ACTING jobs vs
Since The Mandy Network claims to be "the 1 jobs platform for cast, crew and creative professionals", I'm paying a subscription to be able to access ACTING jobs. If I was interested in SEND Teaching Assistant or Promotional Bar Staff positions, I'd have subscribed to Indeed or Reed instead...
I understand that times are tough and some actors could be interested in a side gig but I particularly feel that The Mandy Network is not the place to advertise such jobs - so any chance you could create a special category for them (other than 'Paid Jobs' and 'Opportunities') so some of us could filter them out of our searches? Thank you.

I totally agree - it’s becoming very annoying.
Sadly the takeover by Backstage has ruined this site... And even more sadly I don't think the folks at Backstage/Mandy even care.
Agreed ! I’m sure there’s no attempt to filter these jobs. I’m white, English, live on the south coast and am 74, so why do I get shown jobs in Manchester or for ethnic minorities or for people aged 35 !?
I just logged in to see if there were some preferences I could set so I stop getting inundated with jobs that have absolutly nothing to do with acting. I'm getting very close to closing my account as Mandy has become almost completely unusable in seeking legit projects. Rather than reacting to emails, I'm going to have to send them to junk and set time aside to search manually. Which sort of defeats the point as I'm quite busy and appreciate just being alerted to significant roles.
It's frustrating.
Mandy has gone from an essential tool to a total waste of money and time.
Is Mandy taking notice of this thread ?
I go through the jobs manually every second day or so... The most annoying thing is you can't flag up jobs/opportunities you've already looked at... Unless you apply for them.
So if there aren't any roles you're suitable for... You have to go through them manually again.
Sometimes it can be 4 or 5 pages... Very annoying.
Mandy (Backstage) ignore the comments above, which are pretty unanimous amongst professionals, especially those who have been with Mandy since the CCP/VP days.
The changes are horrendous, and massive backward step, and destructive.- and no they're not listening.
They lost my Subscription(s) and they won't be getting them back until they restore the service that used to provide.
Thing is, Casting Directors and Producers must be witnessing this from their end too, so not only are we leaving in droves, they will be too.
I started a new forum post this morning.
It was regarding spam emails and inappropriate job suggestions.
I had been receiving spam e-mails from StarNow since the Backstage takeover and received an unsolicited email from another company - Careers World (powered by Find Every Job) this morning, and was asking if anyone else had received the same.
The strange thing about this forum is that it is pre-moderated.
My post must have caught the eye of the censors, sorry moderators, as they e-mailed me about the StarNow angle - however, my post has not found its way onto the forum, despite it being related to a spam message from another company.
This is not the first time that New Forum Posts have been blocked.
I think they should be placed under another website Mandy Jobs Outside Acting for instance and the subscription should be free as you normally wouldn’t pay a job site a fee to source non acting jobs .
If you are fortunate to be on Spotlight, you should not be paying to be on here. The only thing this site is good for is if you’re starting out, don’t mind low/no pay and trying to gain experience. A lot of employers come searching for bargain basement actors on here, and it’s borderline exploitive.
For those unaware, top tier acting work will go out to a CDs preferred agent(s) (usually also a tier 1 agent- that’s why you don’t see lead parts for Eastenders or Marvel films on Spotlight, or anywhere ever). Other work will go out to all other agents and to cast the net wider or for speciality talent finally onto Spotlight, which also appears here.
Most of the castings I do never appear on Spotlight let alone here, so don’t expect anything from this site and you won’t be disappointed! keep an active account purely so people can get in touch for work.
