Casting for various roles on the show will continue until December.
Mindhunter follows the origins of the FBI's Behavioral Science Unit as they interview serial killers to understand how they think.
The show is executive produced by Seven and Fight Club director David Fincher and Mad Max: Fury Road actress Charlize Theron.
Created by English playwright and screenwriter Joe Penhall, Mindhunter debuted last year to critical acclaim and a slew of awards nominations, including a Primetime Emmy nod for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.
Fincher directed four episodes of the series while Asif Kapadia (Amy, Senna), Tobias Lindholm (Borgen) and Andrew Douglas (The Amityville Horror) took the reigns for the rest.
The second series of Mindhunter will consist of eight episodes and will follow the Atlanta murders of 1979-81.
