Open casting call for Harriet Tubman movie biopic 'Harriet'
ARVOLD casting has announced an open casting call for a new movie about political activist and American abolitionist Harriet Tubman.
Harriet follows the story of Harriet Tubman, who helped free hundreds of slaves from the South after escaping from slavery herself in 1849.
The open call will be focused on finding "hundreds" of people with interesting, expressive faces that naturally fit into the Civil War time period.
These include "African American men and women to play Philadelphia society, plantation slaves and abolitionists", "caucasian men and women to play plantation owners, farmers and politicians" and "stand-ins and photo doubles."
Auditions will take place in Richmond, Virginia, US, on September 22 from 1-4pm and Petersburg, Virginia, US, on September 23 from 1-4pm.
Shooting will take place in the Richmond area from October 8 with compensation "on the scale of other professional productions."
Fore more details about the open casting call – including the address to attend – view the job here.
The open casting call will involve a "brief talk with a member of the casting team and a photograph" and no acting experience or appointment is necessary.
SAG-AFTRA members should bring their memberships cards and enter a line dedicated to the union.
Harriet will be directed by actress and director Kasi Lemmons based on a screenplay by award-winning screenwriter Gregory Allen Howard.
