About me
I used to be a primary school teacher in the 1990s and have until recently been a one to one tutor in a secondary school. I am also trained in various holistic therapies. I enjoy yoga, my pets and like new experiences, which is why I have enjoyed working in film and tv. I am positive, warm and always see the funny side; at the same time I am reliable, hard-working and professional.Skills

Highlights
-
So far I have had four jobs, one as an extra at a church service for a student production, "The Vicar's Son" in Cambridge, the second as a waitress/dancer in a music video for a local band, both very interesting experiences. I was cast in the final part of a trilogy audio version of Doctor Who, (Word of Mouth Productions) called "Eternity Rises" where I played a Chanter and member of the Eternity. I really enjoyed audio work and observing other more experienced performers in this field. My most recent job has been for four days as a supporting artist on the major ITV show "Grantchester". I have also been in two major supermarket Christmas commercials. I have to be completely honest and say I am coming pretty late to the acting game at the grand age of 48 but I have some amateur dramatic acting/singing/dancing experience from many years ago, in small and main roles. The biggest role I had involved playing an intense young Belfast girl called Deirdre in a four-hander so a strong accent was required!
I sing in the soprano range and was in choirs when younger and my voice is still pretty good. I enjoy dancing as well thanks in part to a good grounding in ballet, tap and modern dance lessons every week as a child/teen and so now have a natural sense of rhythm.
When I was training to be a teacher I did a drama module in my fourth year which I thoroughly enjoyed. Whilst a primary teacher I often used role-play when teaching and found drama brought out the best in pupils. I still use role-play now when working one to one with teenagers in my emotional literacy sessions.
My career as an holistic therapist over the years has also really honed my own emotional literacy and I use intuition and empathy in the treatments which I think would help in any small acting/supporting artist roles. I am very much a people person with excellent communication skills and can bring out the best in others. People have often commented on my calming presence, friendliness and positivity which I think would be of value on any set. Because I have worked with children and teenagers all my life, I am very natural with them which is an asset if required to work with young people on a shoot.
