About me
On leaving both regular school and Italia Conti at the age of 17, I started singing, both solo and in bands. Although I recorded several songs, and wrote a few, a record deal was not forthcoming and the acting bug started to bite. I got an agent and appeared in TV shows such as ‘Our Friends In The North’ with Malcolm McDowell and ‘Bugs 4’ as a stand-in for an actor in a recurring role (Paula Hunt). At the age of 30, I took a post-graduate course in acting at The London Centre of Theatre Studies, and on leaving there, performed in several theatre plays, including ‘Time And The Conways,’ ‘Love’s Labours Lost’ and ‘Midsummer Nights Dream,’ – all performed at The Jermyn Street Theatre in London. (Please go to Spotlight link for full CV).
I set up my own theatre company in 2008 – Tapestry Theatre Company – and produced my first play, Nicky Silver’s ‘The Maiden’s Prayer’ where I took the lead role of the tortured Libby. Setting up my own theatre company has allowed me to work with the actors and directors I want and has also allowed me to take more control in guiding my career down the right pathway.
In 2009, I set up my own film company – Tapestry Film Productions – and produced my first short, self-penned film, ‘Prediction’ with Seeing Pictures. Please see www.imdb.com for details.
In 2010, Tapestry Theatre Company produced my first self-penned play, ‘Paradise Lost’ which went on at The Leicester Square Theatre in London and starred Abi Titmuss and Vicki, alongside 4 other actors. The show was sold out most nights, garnered press interest due to Abi’s involvement and went on to enjoy three and four star reviews in the press.
In 2015, I teamed up with Guy Masterson of Theatre Tours International fame. Guy – an Olivier Award winning director – became fascinated by my next play, ‘Marilyn: Her Final Days’ and he asked to read it. We ended up doing extensive research together on the life and strange death of film legend, Marilyn Monroe, thus creating the elongated play ‘The Marilyn Conspiracy.' This play went on to enjoy a sell out success at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2018. I starred as Kennedy sister, Patricia Kennedy-Lawford, and the play also starred Susie Amy (Footballers’ Wives, The Wright Stuff) as Marilyn’s best friend and PA, Pat Newcomb, and Oliver Farnworth (Coronation Street, Mr Selfridge) as Rat Pack actor, Peter Lawford. ‘The Marilyn Conspiracy’ garnered four and five star reviews from the British press and was all set to be taken on by a major West End producer when Covid-19 hit in 2020.
‘The Marilyn Conspiracy’ is finally going to have its London debut in Summer 2024. More details will follow.
I'm also currently waiting a response from The Arts Council re 'Love Or Something Like it,' which, if successful, will have a London run also early next year.
