About me
I graduated in Film Studies from St Andrews, UK two years ago. I chose this subject as film, precisely film making had been the passion of my life for a long time. I wanted to learn about what the meaning behind the images we see everyday on TV or in cinema was. With the collaboration of my professor I started a film making collective which challenged me in both technical and creative ways to tell a story. I directed, shot and edited experimental short films for every fortnight. In my third year I was looking for my big project so I teamed up with fellow University students to direct a feature length documentary film about Tibetan Buddhist nuns in Nepal, a topic that is rarely discussed or shown to the public. We had to do everything from scratch, find funding, do a deep research and come up with a unique story line. Throughout my last year at University I was occupied with editing the 40 hour footage we recorded in Nepal.
As I graduated from St Andrews I was already in the process of setting up my own film company. The film was released in 2013 and was sold to a distributor in Hungary which made it possible that it was played in 19 cinemas for three months. After this a US distributor picked up the film and just started its theatrical release in the US and Canada this year.
Since then the film received an Honorable Mention at the Athens International Film Festival, became a Quarterfinalist at the Colortape International Film Festival, won the El Ray Award for Excellence in Documentary Narrative and is currently at competition for the Best Documentary award at Salento International Film Festival.
At the moment I am finishing up my second documentary. My passion is storytelling from a human perspective. I love concentrating on hidden truths that become visible through the lens of a camera.
My experience so far taught me the process of creation, to think on my feet, to solve problems, to plan and improvise whenever necessary.
I am hard-working, passionate and a team player. I always found that communication skills and a good sense of humor are a major part to success.
