About me
I am a freelance photographer based in east London.I originally started out shooting street photography and social observation. I enjoyed the watching and waiting, trying to find a special moment or scene to capture. To explain people and how they tick.
From that I decided that photo journalism would be an interesting extension of my field of work.
Along the way I discovered the world of Unit Stills and fell in love with it. Thats the whirlwind story.
At times unit stills can be so similar to photo journalism work as you really have to be the invisible observer on set, sneaking around trying to capture the magic that goes into making a movie. Integrating your self into a crew and running smoothy with their shooting schedule is a vital part to the job and one that I pride my self on doing well.
As well as talking with the director and DOP about their ideas and imagery I also take a lot of enjoyment from reading through the scripts and developing my own ideas for poster and mood images for the film. That way I find I can get more out of a set by utilising any down time productively.
I often bring my own lighting gear for using before of after the gaffer team has been on a set.
The production team often find these extra images very useful for their electronic press kits and online presence.
On set I mostly shoot full frame digital SLR's with pro lenses to handle the low light with minimal problems. Flash guns and light mods are always in the kit bag too and often get utilised by the crew in a pinch as well. I also enjoy shooting film along the way as well when time permits. Anything from 35mm to 120 roll film, it all adds to the finished project.
For me communication is the key and I like to work closely with the whole crew from start to finish. I find this approach always results in a large body of stunning images at the end of the shoot.
My rates are competitive and flexible for projects of any size. Just come and have a talk with me about what you have in mind and we can go from there.
