About me
A recent graduate of a Masters in Engineering from Loughborough University, I now run my own video production company, XSquared Films, which focuses on providing cost-effective visuals to aid the growth of businesses across the UK. How did I end up in this position from studying Engineering? Well, I first gained work experience at McLaren F1 Racing. McLaren taught me the requirements of working in a fast-paced environment and delivering under pressure. A year later, I was hired as a Systems Engineer at GE Aviation in Cheltenham which exposed me to the management processes and complex software and systems architecture of a global project, delivering an electrical power system to Boeing’s upcoming 777X commercial aircraft. Then, throughout my final year at university, I decided follow a passion of mine alongside my studies - video production.I started out as a freelance videographer with local charity work, providing video content to third sector organisations in Birmingham City in order to gain experience with clients. Through working with these local charities, I was introduced to international Reggae star Apache Indian and his Music Academy, opening up a number of opportunities within the entertainment and event industry. This led to numerous projects working with large clients such as BritAsia TV, TroyBoi, the London Mela and Godiva Festivals, the National Lottery Heritage as well as Birmingham City Council.
Most recent projects include being commissioned to create a feature-length documentary on the Greek-Cypriot migration to Birmingham. This involved travelling to Cyprus and capturing first hand the journeys of those it affected. I led all aspects of pre and post-production; from storyboarding to DOP to editor to colourist. The documentary went on to receive 'Official Selection' and nomination for 'Best Documentary' at the Birmingham Film Festival in 2019.
