About me
As a post-production expert, excellent and passionate craftsman of story and multi-faceted creative, Don excels at difficult projects, thrives at crafting story and shines at effects, color, mixing and delivery. As a team leader or member of a team Don is a total pro with heaps of passion and commitment to professionalism.Don owns and operate a full-service video and audio post-production boutique in Studio City California but freelance off site production and post is and will always be a big part of his world.
When the chance arises to combine both both story and flash, look out!
A by-product of running facilities and acting as lead editor has developing a very well-rounded repertoire. Don's career began fatefully in comedy as "vacation relief" on a floundering sitcom that a year later hit the #1 spot and stayed there for several more. The late director Noam Pitlik Don considers his early career and "becoming a man" mentor. They worked together on several hit comedy shows until Don made a full time commitment to what became a long and stellar career in the MTV sphere. Don have been called in the press and by peers as one of the creators of the "MTV Style". Whether or not that is true for sure it was a magical run. Working alongside the likes of the brilliant Michael Jackson, Sting, Bon Jovi, Barbra Streisand and David Gilmore taught humility, strength and deep belief in his creative soul. Because of the music video success Don was able to follow paths of interest and developed great skills and love for feature trailers and promo and helped launch shows like "The Real World" ,"Arliss" and "MadTV". Don became Executive Producer at a large LA trailer house which led to a long stint running the global feature marketing editorial arm of Sony Pictures.
With the advent of 3Dtv, big budget concert specials came back into favor and Don became a global expert in 3D, from shooting to post. Seven years of 3D and the market ended ironically months after Don won the prestigious Luminere Award for the 3D feature film "Guns N Roses: Appetite for Democracy". What looked like the end again of music themed programming and film amazingly became a decade of non-stop directing, producing and editorial on a long running series of rock/doc\s and big name concert films. Recently won best editing awards for "Sheryl Crow: Live at the Capitol Theatre" and "Foreigner: Then and Now".
Considered a post production expert Don either does all finishing for his creative output or supervises other professionals.
Asked why sleep and the confines of things like "shifts" and "hours" seem of little importance, Don answers with his personal truth: "I am a happy but undeterred perfectionist".
