About me
I specialise in men's costume making, and have lots of experience in period costuming and tailoring. I have been working in the industry professionally for over 6 years, most recently as a Senior Maker on Men In Black: International.I graduated in June 2012 from the Arts University College Bournemouth with a First Class Honours Degree in Costume with Performance Design. Since then I have gone on to work for The Royal Shakespeare Company in the Men's Costume Department and in the Tailoring department of Glyndebourne Opera House.
I can create costume garments to a high professional standard, using skilled techniques learnt in a professional environment and have an in depth and varied knowledge of costume making.
My speed of construction is quick and I am very capable of working to deadlines and maintaining multiple workloads under pressure. I have excellent technical skills in machine and hand sewing and maintain upmost attention to detail.
Additional skills:
Costume Construction : Professional knowledge of costume construction tailoring and sewing techniques, costume alteration, fabric manipulation, constructing toiles and finished garments to high standard, able to conduct fittings and creatively interpret designs.
Cutting : Men's and women's pattern drafting, adapting patterns for period work, cutting on the stand, waistcoat tailoring and
soft tailoring, cutting women's 19th century garments, contemporary theatrical and dance costumes.
Textile Techniques : Creative and thorough knowledge of dyeing fabrics, breaking down, painting materials and techniques, batik, screen printing, knitting, laser cutting.
Industry awards:
Part of the costume making team on Battle for the Winds, for the Weymouth Olympic Opening Ceremony 2012, Which won a Silver medal for The Award for Creative Cultural Project, at
the 2012 Podium awards.
