About me
I'm a wardrobe artist with a performer's background. I've built over 10 years of experience on two coasts, starting as a high-schooler with a penchant for thrift store shopping in my hometown, Sacramento, CA. At age 17 I wrote a fashion 'zine highlighting the best and up-n-coming vintage haunts in the city, at the same time crushing the drama club's semesterly performances, culminating in getting cast as Anne Frank in my senior year performance, Spring 2009.Acting became my ticket to NYC when I was admitted to NYU off the 'potential' radiating through my audition. But at Tisch, I was consistently drawn to the backstage. I began costume designing my own scene work in my second year at Atlantic Theater School, and a year later, was selected to design our company class' cumulative production of Charles Mee's "Big Love" (Spring 2012).
Since then, I've expanded into film, working on multiple short films and music videos, notably costume designing and heading the costume department on the Tribeca Film Festival Selection "Ponyboi" directed by River Gallo and Sade Clacken Joseph, April 2018. Much of my field experience stems from apprenticeship under my mentor Katja Andreiev, a super-skilled New York based Wardrobe Designer who has 15+ years of experience, and a maintained relationship with fellow TSOA/Atlantic Theater Company alum.
I have the elementary sewing skills necessary to build costumes, in particular for my own cosplays and exemplary in the web-series "The Fantastic Adventures of Foolish Gentlemen" (Shot in the summer 2013), though my skills really shine when it comes to shopping and sourcing unique pieces, especially on a budget.
I'm ready to build a more impressive portfolio and work with like-minded artists on projects that ignite real passion; that could mean anything I suppose, but for me it means intersectionally-feminist art with a dedication to giving voice to people of color and the LGBTQIA+ community, art that finds relief and connection in humor, comedic work that is with the program, fantastic or original or serious ideas that come with the freedom to explore and grow as artists in collaboration and most importantly, meaningful compensation.
