About me
I am a Bristol based Freelance Cinematographer and Camera Operator with 7 years working experience. In the last two years I have been lucky enough to work as a DoP on an Indie Feature Film, multiple Music Videos achieving broadcast on MTV/Kerrang, and a Documentary which have been incredible experiences and allowed me to plan and fully orchestrate my own lighting set ups whilst also honing my skills working closely with different directors to achieve a common creative vision. I also have a wealth of experience during the last 7 years of shooting and editing Online Content, Promos, and Corporate Videos which has enabled me to build my client relation skills and become adept at managing a project from start to finish. From my experiences on set, I have quickly become aware of the attributes needed to both lead a crew and work as part of a team. When working as a director or producer, encouraging a good sense of morale and motivation creates a positive working atmosphere where the crew can focus on being efficient and producing high quality footage. Realising the importance of your crew and delegating jobs to those best able to manage them allows you to keep a clear head and focus on your own tasks. A high level of communication amongst the group is crucial to maintaining an organised and calm atmosphere on set. Pre-planning for any mishaps will always help during the shoot, but being able to make confident decisions at a moments notice and taking initiative is an invaluable skill. Through all this, being able to uphold your sense of humour and passion for filmmaking means that your shoots will have creativity and drive behind them, trying to find the best way of telling your ‘story’.
I am genuine, motivated and hard working, with a huge passion for Film and Television, both practically and critically. I completed a Film Production and Cinematography BA (Hons) course, at Bournemouth University in 2013. Since then I have learnt a great deal about lighting and camerawork as well all the ins and outs of film/TV production. I am practiced with a range of kit frequently hiring from kit houses myself, and have worked with most camera systems from high-end Arri, RED, Sony to smaller DSLR and Mirrorless Cameras for run and gun shoots. I have also been fortunate enough to work with super 16mm film on several occasions working as a 1st AC with the Arriflex SR3. I dedicated to constantly developing my skills researching and shooting personal projects in my spare time. I enjoy meeting new people, and believe that I am easy to talk to, and a good listener.
