About me
I am a skilled technician who had spent three and a half years working on Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. Due to the unique challenges that working on cruise ships, I am very quick to adapt to a new and stressful situations and I am self-sufficient. I have also been nominated twice for Employee of the Month. I am currently at Coloursound Experiment where I have done a variety of jobs.At Coloursound Experiment I started out as a warehouse technician cleaning, maintaining, preparing and addressing the lights before they went out to gigs with occasionally working out the patch for the gig considering the DMX and power runs. I then moved into consoles, data racks and distros where I went on the training causes for Chamsys, Grand MA2/3, Luminex networking and Robe Robospot. It was my job to clean, maintain, set up the consoles and networking for the gigs before they left the warehouse. I then moved into the repair department where I would need to be able to diagnose, use a multi-meatier to measure power, de-solder and solder components onto control boards, contact companies to purchase spare parts, provide support over the phone to clients on site or travel onsite to repair equipment for a huge variety of moving lights, consoles, data racks, generics, distros and any other equipment that needed to be repaired.
On cruise ships, support is very limited, so I know how to fix all the lights and control systems without the use of internet, and sometimes also the manuals. I am experienced with Martin, Elation ETC, Robe, Prolights, Chauvet, Clay Paky, GLP, Generics, Scrollers and High End DLHDs. I am very experienced with the Hog 3/4, Grand MA 2/3 and Chamsys consoles.
I have worked on 5 different cruise ships in the main theatre operating big Broadway style production shows, calling follow spots and programming headliners on a weekly basis. I was also one of the technicians that did the take-out of the world’s largest cruise ship, Harmony of the Seas. I oversaw the lights and video system in Studio B which is the Ice rink on board. My duties were to rig, cable, focus and help program the lighting system. I also had to troubleshoot all the power problems we were having including working out were to get extra power from, creating cables, wiring set pieces and doing anything the designers needed me to do.
I was given the job of creating the lighting for the New Year’s party on the Harmony of the seas, I had to turn the ice rink into a night club (https://youtu.be/rnfe8C4p2jw). Because everyone loved the lighting, I had designed for the New Year’s party I was given permission to redesign the night club that already took place in the ice rink and I created what I called Red 2.0 (https://youtu.be/PLYgXdUT1NI)
I also have experience with video and show control systems such as Showman and Coolux. I was given a 2-day training session on Coolux where I was trained to set-up, program, troubleshoot and maintain the whole system including the 6-projector pixel mapping onto the ice.
