Profile
I attended Sheffield Hallam University where I studied a BA Honours degree in Film and Visual Effects. I have recently graduated and I am looking to start my career in media. I am a highly motivated and creative individual who is very committed to achieving my career aspirations. I am available to work any day of the week and weekend. I am willing to relocate and I have a full UK driving licence.
Skills
In college I studied “Creative Media” which involved art style film making and researching various different directors such as; Jan Svankmajer, Matthew Barney, Bill Viola and many more. This research helped me to establish the types of films I want to create and show audiences. In order to create these films I had to develop new skills and use different software packages such as Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects and Soundtrack Pro.
During my time in college I realised my passion for media and so decide that I wanted to turn my hobbies into my long term career goals. I went on to study “Film and Visual Effects” at Sheffield Hallam University. The work I did varied from setting up the set to editing audio both on my own and working as part of a team. I also learnt about 3D modelling and animating characters using Maya or 3ds Maxs for some of my modules and I added these models into After Effects to create the added effects needed to finish off the film.
Media Work Experience
Although my media career has been relatively short I have gained numerous and varied opportunities for work experience. My most recent work experience was for Morphman Forms of Bullying who produce anti-bullying short films in Preston. On this occasion I worked as the grip setting up the camera equipment and I also used my creative vision to assist the director to develop dynamic camera shots throughout the production. I also helped produce a horror drama film for Skylander films called ‘The Ledged’. My role within the team was the sound and edit logger and well as being a runner and helping out wherever was necessary.
I have recently been involved with Input Media who were working for ESPN doing interviews with football fans at the Football Museum for the FA cup final. My job was setting up the set with dolly tracks and lighting and finding potential places to shoot the video in the museum. Other work experience includes working for my friends company Low Battery Productions shooting music videos. My role consisted of editing film and adding in effects using After Effects.
I am still new to the media industry but I am keen to learn and become a valued member of the team. I have actively sought opportunities for myself and I am very driven to achieve my career goals. Ideally I would love to a start my career as an Editor assistant but I am happy to work in all areas of the media.
Interests
I am a very sociable person who enjoys meeting up with friends and networking. I am also an avid supported of Manchester City football club and frequently attend games as I am a season ticket holder. Another passion of mine is going to the cinema to see the latest releases but I also have a passion for classic films such as the Alfred Hitchcock collection.
