About me
I'm a creator to my core. I'm a professionally trained dancer I'm also a human statue, stilt walker, actor and dance teacher/choreographer. I love to work, perform and choreograph. I'm always ready for a challenge and once I put my mind to something I'll give it 100%. My goal is to learn all that I can about the arts that I love. I take my work very seriously but I'm willing to laugh at myself and not take myself or life to seriously. I find it truly joyful to bring a new character, statue or dance to life, through my own performance or as a director or choreographer. Drawing a performance out of myself, a colleague or student is a thrill that I have never found an equal to anywhere else.Skills

Highlights
-
In 2006 I graduated from Northumbria University with a first class honours degree in Dance:Choreography. After graduating I established ViperArts Performance Company creating a range of work in dance, street theatre and storytelling. I have taught, choreographed, organised events and performed for schools, theatre productions, hotels, bars and clubs, corporate events and organisations, community events and groups, councils and festivals throughout the north. Many of these performances/workshops were created specifically for individual events or to meet an individual client’s specification.
Past work:
Music Video - Featured artist. Camera (lipstick) Action by Roberts de Francia
BBC - Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell: Dancer in a fantasy ballroom scene.
Lady VIx: My alt cabaret and belly dancer persona. As Lady Vix I've choreographed numerous short dances in various styles (belly dance, tap, ballet, jazz, musical theatre, contemporary, fire manipulation) for burlesque and cabaret shows around the UK.
Fire & Brimstone - Gate2Productions: Supporting Artist. Podium dancer and pole dancer in a club scene.
Early Days: Choreographed and performed by me. An African and contemporary dance fusion solo piece with elements of fire manipulation
Slowly Birds gather: Dancer for choreographer Bethany Peacock in her new work inspired by the choreography of Catherine Dunham
BubbleGum: Choreographer and dancer: A unique, quirky and fun dance show that combined elements of contemporary dance, street dance and break dance.
Any Takers..?: Choreographer: A contemporary dance and physical theatre performance that looks at being single and searching for your perfect mate in a light-hearted and humorous way.
Kick Start Choreography: Choreographer and facilitator. Working with many youth community groups I created various different works each based on a theme related to art and culture (eg. fashion, the Olympics, outer space, the circus etc) which were performed as part of a dance show.
I’m Not Pink: Co-choreographer, fire performer, dancer and costume designer for a Pink tribute show.
Chester-le-Street: I organised several day long events for the council with the aim of increasing footfall in the market at the weekend. These events included: The Hip Hop Day, Rainbow Day, Imagination Day, Super Heroes Day, Under the Sea Day, International Dance Festival and a Salsa Carnival. These events included original dance works, performances and workshops as well as street theatre, arts and crafts and storytelling shows.
Carling Academy: Over the past 3 years I've been responsible for the additional entertainment at several of the Carling Academy’s rock nights in Newcastle. These nights were on different themes ranging from pirates to vampires. The entertainment included stilt walkers, dance performances (street, belly, contemporary, Latin etc), fire act, bed of nails act and a mermaid installation with two rock sculptures, two mermaids, a water feature with a fountain and music.
I've taught and choreographed on people aged from 0–80 and people who’s dance abilities ranged from absolute beginner to professional dancer. I have knowledge of many dance styles including ballet, contemporary, tap, jazz, salsa, street and break dance, belly dance and contact improv).
Street Theatre: I've developed a range of street theatre work including stilt characters, human statues, poi and staff spinning shows with light and fire.
My philosophy as a choreographer is that I'm only one small part of the creative process and team involving choreographer, performer, designers, composer/musicians etc. The dancers are a massively important part of the process because it is they who will be giving the performance and so they must be comfortable and confident in the work from the start of the creative process to the very end of the last performance. If they aren't then I haven't done my job properly. -
My modeling experience is mainly from my work as a human statue. My statues have been photographed to advertise festivals, events and also businesses including a photography studio and a toy shop. I have also worked as a living mannequin in store windows to help entice customers in off the street. I would however, like to expand my modeling experience by getting into alternative and hair modeling as I am fairly quirky and have very long hair (over three and a half feet). There are some images of my statues etc on my profile here but you can see more on my facebook page - Lady Vix and my website: www.statuesque-arts.co.uk.
Promotions: I have worked as a promotions model for N20 on many campaigns since 2006
SA: Played the role of a dancer and waitress in a pole dancing club in TV pilot Fire & Brimstone by Gate2Productions. -
2014: Supporting artist in The Colour of Tradition. (film)
2014: Supporting artist in a Handel Messiah drama documentary. (tv)
2013: Played the role of Jennifer in a short film. This was a central speaking role. Jennifer is a lover turned monster and murderer who kills her fiancee. (film)
Message sent to me by the director after the first day of filming : "I actually can't thank you enough for your time, patience and artistic skill you performed today. The footage is brilliant, I can't wait to see part two."
2013: Supporting artist in a tv pilot for Gate2Productions playing a dancer in a pole dancing club and a waitress. (tv)
I have taken many small roles in productions of plays and musicals including:
Emillia in Othello. (play)
The White Witch in The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe (play)
Mrs Worthington-Worthington in Kiss Me Kate (musical)
Murder in the Cathedral (play)
Pride in Our Town (play)
Me and My Girl (musical)
The Pirates of Penzance (musical)
Anything Goes (musical)
Joseph and his Amazing technicolour dreamcoat (musical)
The Wizz (musical)
Once On This Island (musical)
For two years I ran my own performance company during which time I gained much experience in working and performing in storytelling and street theatre as a slit walker / walk about character and human statue interacting with members of the public. I also have a first class degree in Ba(Hons) Dance:Choreography and extensive experience in teaching, performing and choreographing in many forms of dance as well as physical theatre.
A Level in theatre studies specialising in acting (Stanislavskian and Brechtian theatre, method acting etc) and character development.
As Level Performance Studies covering music, dance and acting with a special focus on different forms of physical theatre. Eg. Literary based - Kafka (Metamorphosis) / Physical or movement based - V-tol and Dv8.
GCSE Drama - Covering performance analysis, improvisation, character development and the creation of an original piece of work.
My acting experience is currently fairly limited but I am very keep to develop my skills in this area. I have no problems with travelling for work and am willing to learn, take direction and put in a lot of work to develop myself as an actor. I will always give every job my all.
