Acting Tips from Casting Director Sarah Leung

Sarah began her career in film as assistant to producer Larry Franco on "Batman Begins"

After returning to the film's post-production as assistant to Emma Thomas (wife of director Christopher Nolan), Sarah moved immediately into casting, working with one of London's premiere casting offices on Alfonso Cuaron's "Children of Men". She then spent the next few years, working with up and coming British filmmakers before turning her sights to gaining experience in the fast-paced world of television casting. Sarah freelanced for the the BBC, working for top UK TV casting director, Andy Morgan, on some of the country's highest rated series and mini-series ("Luther", "Law & Order: UK", "Inside Men", etc.). In 2013, she finally found her niche and is one of the UK's most promising new generation of independent casting directors. Find out more about Sarah Leung on IMDB.

4 Top Tips From Sarah Leung

1. Contacting Casting Directors: Actors, be really specific when contacting casting directors. Get in touch with a purpose or for a particular role that you think you would be right for.

2. Headshots: Update your photos at least every 12 months. Do not send old portraits taken 5 years ago.

3. Showreels: Have a shorter, concise showreel that showcases your skills rather than loads of small videos with repetitive material. Ask yourself "Does this sell me?" If you're not sure about any of the footage, don't put it in. Avoid long montages.

4. In the Audition room: Always arrive on time, be prepared and read to be called in. Listen when you're in the room.
