Top tips from Amy Smith, VFX expert
VFX expert Amy Smith visited The Mandy Network to host our latest Mandy CV surgery, where she gave one-to-one career advice to a selection of people who applied to attend the event. Amy is the head of talent at Framestore and has worked on some renowned projects such Gravity, Paddington 2, and recently won an Oscar for Bladerunner 2049, the studio's 3rd academy award in total.
Top Tips from Amy
- It doesn’t matter what route you take in the VFX industry, as long as you are passionate and committed
- Don’t worry about learning all aspects of visual effects at once. Just go for it.
- Make sure to speak up about the VFX work you have done, whatever the skill level.
- Keep your VFX reel updated and even include body tracking shots and modeling to showcase all areas of VFX skills.
