Highlights
-
Although I have never attended a dance school/academy, I have been lucky enough to be taught ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap and modern throughout my training at College and University. My skills have progressed over the years, and towards my final year at University I was considered to be one of the stronger dancers, selected to dance in various shows and take my ISTD Intermediate Modern exam. I also took examinations in jazz dance, most recently completing my ISTD Gold Jazz award.
I would say that my dance skills are intermediate, I can pick up a dance routine quickly and will work extremely hard to display the right technique. Sometimes when my dance skills/technique aren't as advanced as others I am performing with, I am able to use my performance and acting skills to disguise the difference and put on a great show. I think this is a necessity in the performing world as it shows that you are a confident performer, and means the audience can have a good time watching you.
My strongest genres of dance are jazz, musical theatre and contemporary. -
I have been training my singing voice for the last ten years. I specialise in musical theatre, which is also my favourite style of music. Since beginning to sing professionally, my voice and skills have improved vastly and in many areas. I am confident in taking lead vocals, yet I can easily adapt to blend my voice with others, creating and learning harmonies quickly. I have gained a lot of professional experience, performing in different venues for numerous types of audience. My experience ranges from musicals in a theatre to adapting sets to suit certain audiences on a holiday park/cruise ship. I can adapt easily and have purposely challenged myself to take on various genres of music so that I am able to take on as much work as possible.
