About me
My name is Meaghan Finlay and I am an Bachelor’s Degree Candidate for Spring 2017 at Rider University, studying Arts Administration, with a Theatre Concentration. While studying Arts Administration, I have quickly learned everything from marketing in the arts and venue safety to legal aspects of the arts and patron services. Outside of the classroom, I have spent my time here at Rider as one of several resident stage managers, part-time Properties Liaison at Rider, and Props and Paint Assistant at Princeton University.Throughout my college career, I have done my absolute best to keep myself as busy as possible and learn as much as I can in my short 3 years at Rider. This has led to me stage managing over 10 shows, working in the props department at Rider and Princeton University, interning as a Production Coordinator for the Fine Arts Department, and work 2 part-time jobs at two restaurants. All the jobs require different levels of responsibility and time management, and while my schedule is always busy, I find immersing myself in all aspects of the arts is truly going to advance my career as a theatre professional. Recently, I worked as the Intern at Forestburgh Playhouse, where I build my skills in all tech fields in one of the most demanding work environments I have ever been in. This job, while challenging and exhausting most of the time, was a perfect experience to show me why I am pursuing this career and what I am willing to endure to make my career worth while. It had given me the chance to experience the kind of fast-paced, and seemingly ‘magic’ way that the arts can come together-qualities I hope to find in my future positions in the arts.
