About me
As a recent graduate from the University of Greenwich with a 2:1 BA in Drama, I am keen to secure a full time position within an administration setting, which will challenge the skills I have developed throughout my courses, both personally and professionally.I believe I have the attributes and skills to excel under the demands that come with the industry. My military upbringing has made me adept at assimilating into my environment and integrating myself rapidly. I’m quick to build relationships with those around me and am used to working with a wide spectrum of people from different backgrounds, and with this comes a knack for finding the best and most efficient ways to communicate with my peers. This military lifestyle has also encouraged me to throw myself in to as many situations as possible where I wouldn't necessary feel at home.
Whilst at university, I was nominated as the course representative three years in a row, where I spearheaded a number of initiatives within my programme, based off bi-monthly feedback sessions with other students, such as starting and running a website to track what was happening in the spaces at our theatre and to document students progress the course; a transport scheme to and from campuses to help alleviate pressures on students and also organised many course related excursions to plays, talks and exhibitions. Alongside this I also ran the FoH team at our theatre - managing rota’s, the cash float at both bar and box office and implemented a ticketing system for our venue.
I also founded a small theatre company to fill the few remaining moments of my day, and have produced and directed several successful shows, giving me a valuable insight in how to effectively manage not only my time but also a small company. all the whilst developing an approach to directing that is built upon sharing and building upon the skills of the team around me, knowing that I should never be too proud to ask for help. It has also taught me how best to prioritise my commitments; all the whilst making sure that the team is working together cohesively and towards the same goal.
Whilst at College I managed a small charity, that used performing arts to promote verbal and physical awareness with special needs students. I was responsible for the fundraising and generating greater awareness about disability within my college and local area, for which I ran several events at college, from showcases to bake sales, which successfully funded the end of programme performance and a west end trip for all involved. I also took a lead in the week to week planning and organisation of all sessions - booking rehearsal spaces, finding and managing props, editing scripts and facilitating sessions which could often involve a level of conflict resolution and negotiation.
You will find me to be a cooperative, organised and resourceful person, with keen determination and a capacity to think outside the box. A strong team player, I thrive when working to tight deadlines and under pressure. I am cautiously yet sadistically relishing the opportunity to be challenged daily in an industry that doesn’t rest on its laurels and is constantly pushing forward; a career which will keep me busy, engaged and ultimately excited to come into work everyday.
