About me
Ever since I was young, I've been passionate about being creative, especially where costumes are involved. I have a positive outlook on life and any challenges I may face along the way. I've been trained in costume making with practice in both historical and contemporary wear and I also started touching on the prop side of costume. I would love to explore this more as I really enjoyed using different materials and getting my hands dirty! I always put my all into everything I do and I'm always open to learning new things. I was a finalist in the international design competition that is hosted in New Zealand in 2017. I entered the "Costume and Film: Sci-Fi" section where I designed and made an alien from scratch. As I made it to the finals, my costume appeared on stage in front of an audience of 60,000 people over the course of 3 weeks. It's now in the WOW museum in Nelson where it is estimated that another 40,000 people will visit before November. This was an incredible experience and opportunity as I got to meet other designers and creatives that specialise in all sorts of different things.Since graduating last year, I have volunteered on a few shows as costume assistant and head of costume. I have also been doing some freelance costume making for a burlesque dancer and I was also commissioned to make a large scale character costume for a Christmas grotto. All of this has improved not only my skills as a maker but also my leadership and organisational skills as these have been key responsibilities on most projects I have done so far.
