About me
Trained at 'RADA' – 1986 – 1989 .Currently I am an associate lecturer for film and theatre at Chichester University.
I have been an actor for more than twenty years playing lead roles for theatres such as: Chichester Festival Theatre; The Royal Exchange; The Glasgow Citizens; The Young Vic; The Lyric Hammersmith; The National Theatre and also for the Actors Touring Company – amongst others. Sam Mendes, Phillip Prowse, Rufus Norris, Marian Elliot, Bill Gaskill, Tim Supple – are some of the directors she has worked with.
As a classical actor, I have always loved comedy and tragedy equally, since one never leaves the other far behind …I have also been stretched physically, mentally, and spiritually when performing in some of the oldest plays and theatres on earth - a theatre that I will never forget - that being the ancient Greek theatre of Epidaurus, (20,000 seats) situated within the Sanctuary of Asklepios, in the Argolis prefecture of the Peloponnese.
For Television, I have also played lead roles in costume and contemporary drama for the BBC and other mainline network channels – working with great writers such as: Russel T Davies, Catherine Cookson, PD James and many more.
For British Independent film and Hollywood, I have worked along side Cate Blanchet, Rupert Everett, Daniel Craig and Catherine Zeta Jones.
In parallel with my acting career I have also been a student, workshop leader and community performer in connection with the performance-art ‘Capoeira Angola’.
Through my passion for Capoeira, in 2007 I co-founded the established London/Rio based 'Kabula Arts': its leading Mestre being the gifted, 'Carloa Teixeira'.
The last 7 years I have been a full time Mother to my two gorgeous children as well developing my own playwriting and directing skills.
My most recent projects have been acting in a short film by a young film director Loui Norris; directing a documentary about a Capoeira group in Brighton for Latest TV. And right now I’m on the third draft of a play, which I’m hoping to direct sometime next year.
I love to study and currently I am in my second year of a part time BA in English Literature with the Open University.
