Yep, count me in; always happy to help where I can and certainly if it means others learning from my mistakes!

Mickey, turns out you and I shared a stage many years ago in Bobby Fishkin's Richard III at the Bloomsbury! Glad to see you're still working and here's hoping we'll get to work together again sometime soon!

OK, so here's my two-penneth worth.

I have over 27 years as a professional actor on stage, in film and on TV. I have won awards for my acting, as well as for my writing and directing and recently had a feature-length screenplay optioned which is now in pre-production. I am also a maker of short films and am currently developing the Offering Memorandum to fund my first feature next year.

I offer one-to-one tuition in audition techniques and can/will direct monologues for castings, etc. Normally I charge an exorbitant amount of money for this, but if you PM through CCP I'm happy to work out a 'mates rates' deal. Especially if you plead poverty and sell me some ridiculous sob story. I'm a sucker for those!

I also offer a script reading service for plays, film and TV scripts - all I ask is that you've formatted it correctly first and are prepared to send me a hard copy so I can make notes on it.

I also run occasional workshops for small groups of between 15 to 20. There is usually a theme to the workshop and they're always designed to get the actor thinking and keeping those creative juices flowing. If the venue is free - or as near as damnit - the cost per workshop (up to 6 hours in length) can be as little as £15 per head.

I also have a direct link to the photographer for the RSC of anyone wants a good deal on great new headshots. The guy has photographed Patrick Stewart, Harriet Walter, Anthony Sher and Ian McKellan, as well as providing ALL the stills for The Woman in Black for the last five years.

Please feel free to PM about any or all of those subjects, or if you just want to have a chat with someone who's been around the block a few times...and is still standing!

Guys we are all energys in this Universe. Our heads are like big radio signals that give messages out into space. Bad thoughts will attract bad things and good thoughts will attract amazing things. IMAGINE-BELIEVE-RECIEVE. 2 years ago I did not know anything about acting, although I believed that I was the best in world. From struggling credits from students I am now on Spotlight, I'm in a feature film which has been a blessing (I did not even apply for the bloody role) and its just getting better and better. But its been so tough these 2 years. I have had so many big auditions for Hollywood and it keeps getting closer and closer. All my money goes on auditions.
It really does work guys. KEEP POSITIVE even when you get turned down from a casting :)

Hi everyone, having just had another birthday I am happy to be in the "older actor" bracket and more than happy to receive messages either here or on @actorcally (I am only just getting into the tweeting way!)
I have 16 years on the clock acting and directing, I ran a social enterprise using drama & film to work with groups struggling to get themselves heard for 7 years (until this government arrived and put me out of business) now I am starting again having formed a theatre company and we are in rehearsals at the moment
I believe we should never be afraid to ask questions, or to say we don't know the answers, otherwise how do we learn
Happy Saturday

sooo cool suzzanne and fuz have open door for private massages for support we all helping each other, if we all kwwp to this i think we will find a 80 per cent chance of more castings , as biz is changing we have to get off our bums exscuse me ladys , and push down the walls knock on doors call in favours and with our contacts its going to be a blast karma man. You be surprized someone lives nxt door to a producer someone is going out with a secon ad someone has family in biz someone is a d.o.p , so not only are agents looking for work we are finding out where work is and if we dont fit brief we look on our helpers site ..this one and we pass on info or push for them to be seen you be surprized a lot of casting directors think this is a student thing so we will change that , but im only helpng those who have offered to give others help on this post thats fair in my eyes so lovely to know some actors are givers up till now i have found that most big names are givers but the ones on way up keep all info to themselfs , that makes no sence karma really does work lov mickey

I can't tell you how many times I suggest actors or crew that I've worked with in the past for jobs.

In fact today I've emailed a list of 6 actors to a producer shooting a fully funded feature and paying nicely too.

In my mind it's always about what I can do for others, and obviously you hope that eventually someone does something like that for you... which they do as I've just got another stage job and another feature film through personal recommendation.

That's why I think Twitter is important. It's speed of ask and reply on there and the fact that it's constantly in my pocket so it's easier to reply too than on here.

Im quite new and I need help. Ive just recently gotten myself on spotlight. Ive auditioned for paid and unpaid work but things have been really quiet.

I have a full time job which I know is not going to help me in the industry but right now Im not sure which way to turn.

Where to network, how to find people in the acting circle, should I go back to school and study more yet my experience is lacking.

I dont have a showreel as I dont have enough to put on it as yet.

A few knock backs from agents as I dont have a showreel. If anything this is making me push towards this career even more but Im just at a loss at where I need to be.

Help anyone?

Lemice if you have a web cam create a You Tube Channel then you can record an introduction about yourself and some acting pieces. My homemade pieces have served me very well. A full-time wage is good so don't see it purely as a draw back. If you want to be more available for audtions in the future then you can re-think your work situation further down the line. x

lemice fuzz has a good point on you tube but you can get jobs that allow you time off for castings a lot of jobs are advertized in the stage avalible at selfridges smihs etc comes out on thursdays if not just put a sick note in they wont know you have gone to a casting if you get the job ? Cross that bridge when you get there no negative thoughts allowed mickey as for the post about twitter sure it can be usefull but if we want to give a helping hand to the ccp members who help otheres, this is the only way thats cool you help thats why the luck bounces back to you karma man bluckymickey

Hi Lernice! Well, you've pinpointed your own problem (as have agents) in that you have to have a showreel. Look for student films (try to find final year/MA projects with some experience and committment behind them) or expenses-only work and slowly build a good showreel that will effectively showcase your acting. Look for projects using good sound/lighting gear. You can do with 1 min of showreel if you need to, as long as it's a good 1min! Any good CD will want to see you acting. Having said that, keep applying to agents because if you have look they need they may well just offer you an audition. Save up for really good headshots, they are your calling card and the first impression a CD/agent gets of you, an unprofessional headshot suggest (unfortunately) an actor who is unprofessional. The early stages are slow and are about financial investment to market yourself, signing up for a few short courses to bolster your CV, getting your calling cards of headshot and showreel, signing up to sites like this and then you can go get 'em!! :) x
