About me
Next appearing in The Sovereign at York Theatre Royal: https://www.yorktheatreroyal.co.uk/show/sovereign/The Sovereign: "Fergus Rattigan plays this role with intensity, integrity and dogged refusal to be shaken from his mission by ignorant prejudice" -Angie Millard, York Calling. Show trailer :https://youtu.be/rjLjPkL4lXE?si=YR-nnnla3kthJOu4
Fergus Rattigan is an Irish actor, stage fighter, director and deviser, based in London.
He trained in Trinity College Dublin in Drama and Theatre and Exeter University in Shakespearean theatre graduating with a B.A and M.F.A respectively.
He has training in stage fighting ,improvisation, Commedia Dell Arte clown and horror ,early modern and modern theatre. He is known for having a particular talent for playing clowns and villains.
Within these roles Fergus has always made use of his unusual height: Standing at 4'6ft (1.38 cm), this has been an advantage (along with a natural sounding grasp of heightened language ) to create unique, fun and engaging characters.
Fergus seeks out roles that challenge him and take him beyond his comfort zone. He is always looking to push himself as an artist, having a hungry mind to grow and develop.
Additional skills:
A.P.C. Stage combat honours: Axe, Knife, hand to hand, Great Sword, Found Weapons
Advanced: 18th Century small sword, Staff , Rapier & Dagger, Case of Rapiers , Machete, Staff, Sword & Buckler and Sword & Shield, Sword & Gauntlet.
A.C.T.T: Advanced combat: Escrima Sticks ,Karambit knife, sword and cloak, sword & shield, axe, Kama

Motion capture work
Shakespearian theatre, cue script work, Early modern English and verse work.

Additional information:
Fergus has a unique physicality that attracts attention in a great way. He has a taste for dark and psychological roles, made more intense by his dark steely eyes and unusual shape.
He uses his height for comedy purposes. Fergus has a wonderfully cartoonish ability with his voice when he chooses to, jump in pitch and tone .
Plays and films for him, are about making people think and getting them to ask questions even if they make them uncomfortable.
