About me
I am a 58 year-old actor with performance experience in theatre, fringe venues, radio, student/short films, interactive/corporate video, murder mystery events and TV. Highlights include a role in Bristol Old Vic's hugely popular staging of Up the Feeder, Down the Mouth and Back Again, and the chance to play 5 different characters in an adaptation of the RSC's 'Nicholas Nickleby'. My portrayal of Tony Blair in a devised play at Bristol Community Festival was also great fun. I enjoy high energy, quirky comedy shows, but can also turn my hand to more serious drama, as with the part of Winston Smith in 1984 and George Tesman in Hedda Gabler. In my short film roles I seem to be a popular casting for up-tight and incompetent authority figures or hen-pecked husbands!
With a clear and authoritative voice I have contributed readings to many Radio 4 shows, and have helped out programme makers by providing guide commentaries on several natural history films. For German TV I relished the chance to play a "fire and brimstone" vicar preaching hell and damnation from the pulpit.
Additional skills:
Highly computer literate, especially in Excel spreadsheets
Driving Licence (clean)
Sound design and operation
Additional information:
I am a graduate of the Acting Academy course at the University of Bristol, which although part time is taught by industry professionals, and includes a year-end showcase to invited agents, casting directors and producers.
With 12 years performing experience I have contributed to many mediums such as local theatre, fringe venues, radio, student/short films and international television. Highlights have included a supporting role in Bristol Old Vic's hugely popular staging of 'Up the Feeder, Down the Mouth and Back Again' on the harbour side, and the chance to play 5 different characters in an adaptation of the RSC's 'Nicholas Nickleby'. My portrayal of Tony Blair (amongst others) in a devised play at Bristol Community Festival was also great fun.
I particularly enjoy partaking in high energy, quirky comedy shows, but can also turn my hand to more serious drama, for example George Tesman in Hedda Gabler at the Alma Tavern Theatre, and Winston Smith in 1984. In my short film roles I seem to have had a disproportional number of death scenes, having been stabbed, run over, menaced by a sea monster and blown up. It would be nice to make it to the final reel intact for a change!
