About me
After studying theatre in general at university and having directed a 'best play by a student' (Journey's End) I continued my artistic exploration as an actor with favourite roles including Hamlet, Richard III, Coriolanus & Cassius. Along the way I have had the chance to learn from some of the best practitioners in all kinds of genre and style from the classics, through physical work to new writing. Drama school was a practical extension of discoveries I made at college with Claude Chagrin and Mila Stolarska including self-directing devised pieces and then I had the privilege to spend time at The Studio (National Theatre) in various classes and workshops with; Michael Bryant, Selina Cadell, Helen Chadwick, Jo Davies, Philip Joseph, Dalia Ibelhauptaite, Fiona Laird, Jeanette Nelson, Wilson Milam & Hired Gun Theatre Company, Kevin Tomlinson. In addition I have participated in explorations of text and performance at Shakespeare's Globe, Soho Theatre, Actor's Centre and the Shakespeare Readers' Society. Most recently I directed a rehearsed reading: casting and coordinating 20 actors of varying experience for the 141 speaking characters across 4 plays (Richard II, Henry IV parts 1 and 2, Henry V) with a fellow director and 7 hours per play to rehearse in; performed in 1 day to the quality of being presumed to be from the R.S.C. (audience member) and enjoyed being the facilitator across a number of disciplines.
In addition I have started writing screenplays which have had recognition at a number of international film festivals namely: WildSound Short Screenplay Contest, Mexico International Film Festival Screenplay Competition, European Independent Film Festival Much More Than A script Competition, Queens International Film Festival & Gotham Screen International Film Festival Screenplay Contest, plus feedback on my first original feature screenplay from the B.B.C.
