About me
I have just completed training at Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance, where I successfully developed skills in classical and contemporary acting through a diverse set of roles. These ranged from Shakespeare's Richard II, Oswald in Ibsen's 'Ghosts' and Choobukov in Chekhov's jest 'The Proposal', to various characters in Tectonic Theatre Project's 'The Laramie Project' and its sequel, and Robbie in Mark Ravenhill's 'Shopping and Fucking'.My tutors at Rose Bruford have described me as a “cerebral actor” (Laurence Greiner) with a “genuine interest in exploring the possibilities of your character and a keen desire to push the boundaries” and “a great concern for 'getting it right'” (Jade Allen). My enthusiasm for learning and research is almost as great as my lifelong love for acting. During my training I frequently combined the actor's process of building a character and living the role in performance with a deep literary interest not just in the text but in the writer, their times and surroundings, and their point of view on the world. I pursued this by, for instance, reading biographies, history and the writer's other work. I found that, with the right balance, this homework can often inform and inspire the actor's process of transformation.
The collaborative nature of the profession is something I value, and a strong and warm ensemble spirit with my fellow artists on stage and off is always important to me. My tutors have described me as “a joy to work with” (Tony James) and “a very focused and calm presence in the rehearsal room.” (Laurence Greiner).
