About me
Both an actor and singer, I have starred in multiple comedies and dramas in short films, plays, musicals and pantomimes. I have been in a feature film, done radio, as well as street theatre. I have devised drama workshops in different primary schools. Key screen credits include‘J’s Life’ (screened at the British Museum) and Romanian feature film ‘Petru Romania’ (screened at festivals). A recent stage credit was new musical Little Ships at the Barnfield Theatre. Please see a link to my Theatre Showreel:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0d0Do1nFB78&t=57s&ab_channel=DanielMaya-ACTOR
Having trained at the Bridge Theatre Training Company, I have performed at the Criterion Theatre and Cockpit Theatre, and did an exam in Actor’s Combat Theatrical Training, gaining Merits in Baton, Single Sword and Unarmed. My training also gave me a solid foundation in theatre acting, screen acting, voice, movement, singing, period dance, improvisation, animal studies, and text analysis. I studied Acting and Screen Performance as part of my university degree at the Uni of Herts, and regularly attended acting classes at the Actor’s Cafe in Watford, as well as acting courses at Camden Summer University. I used to train at the Stagecoach Performing Arts school. I have an ENG1 Seafarer's Medical Certificate., certified by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.
I have sung extensively in competitions (reaching an open mic final), musicals (e.g original musical Little Ships at the Barnfield Theatre and My Fair Lady) and in pantomime (e.g Goldilocks and The Three Bears and The Little Mermaid). I have also sung in residential homes and at charity events.
Additional skills:
I am a conscientious, ambitious and hard working individual with enthusiasm and maturity. I am extremely adept at understanding and communicating with all types of people from all walks of life, being both patient and approachable. I am extremely creative, with a great passion for acting, writing and singing. Being possessed of an intrinsic curiosity and open-mindedness, I enjoy learning new things everyday that ensures I complete all tasks and projects to the best of my ability. I love both the process of learning and teaching, and I am firm believer that, ‘When you listen, you learn. When you speak, you teach.’
