About me
I graduated with a 2.1 in BA (Hons) Costume with Performance Design where I have specialised in Costume Interpretation. I have a high level of sewing skills, embellishing, fabric manipulation and sewing techniques, a knowledge of a variety of stitches and their application and knowledge of fastenings. I can also use domestic and industrial sewing machines, steamers and dye room techniques such as breaking down. I also have a broad knowledge of historical costume, knowledge of fabrics and their properties, a understanding of character analysis and the role of costume in theatre, film and television. Furthermore I can pattern draft, adapt patterns historically, can flat cut and cut on the stand, use corsetry and tailoring techniques, can construct toiles and perform fittings for toiles and finished costumes. Through my degree I have experienced a variety of different theatrical productions including creating costumes for plays, musicals, pantomimes, operettas, promenade performances, amateur productions and historical costumes such as for the Costume Society Competition. It has been great to work on such a variety of productions as this has helped me to become very adaptable and enthusiastic for every type of theatrical performance. In addition I am very committed to historical accuracy and enthusiastic about costume interpretation and costume construction. I am also punctual, hard-working and determined, I enjoy using innovative costume making and developing my sewing skills whilst under pressure. I love working in a team and I am a team player.
