About me
Darren Toon is a Talent and Development executive whose career has taken him on a tour of both unscripted and scripted television. For the past 3 seasons, he has been the talent executive for The CW's critically acclaimed Penn & Teller: Fool Us. He was also the casting director for the scripted series True Nightmares airing on Investigation Discovery.As a development executive, Darren was the creator and executive producer on Bravo’s hit series Thicker Than Water, and held the same title on TLC’s Totally T-Boz, as well as pilots for Oxygen and Fuse, and development deals with MTV, WEtv, HGTV, Nuvo, and Logo.
Between removed Darren was Head of Development at boutique content shingle, where in a three-year span he was instrumental in developing and selling 9 shows to cable nets including Bravo, TLC, MTV, WEtv, Oxygen, Logo, HGTV, Nuvo TV, and Fuse. Prior to that, Darren worked on the development staff at High Noon Entertainment as their Director of Talent, where they sold series to VH1, SyFy, HGTV, Animal Planet, and Weather Channel.
Additionally, Darren has worked on several productions in multiple capacities including as a writer on FOX’s 30 Seconds to Fame, producer on NBC’s Game Show in my Head, CMT’s Man vs Vegas, and GSN’s World Series of Blackjack.
Darren began his career scouting and booking comedy acts working with the likes of Kevin James, Dave Chappelle, Patton Oswalt, and Zack Galifianakis, quickly moving into production management on Comedy Central’s Primetime Glick, starring Martin Short. Working both in the world of logistics and creative via talent and casting made him an instant must-hire for many of networks biggest shows, including CBS’s Big Brother, FOX’s Trading Spouses, and ABC’s The Bachelor and Supernanny. His casting work can be seen on numerous specials and series for a wide variety of broadcast and cable outlets.
Originally from Boston MA, Darren is naturally a Boston team sports fanatic. These days he strives to find a work-life balance, and appreciates the time he can spend with his wife of 11 years and their two very active children.
