About me
After spending the last 10 years in higher education and employment I have demonstrated my skills for clear thinking, originality, pragmatism and creativity. I have worked successfully in a variety of venues and I bring enthusiasm to all roles. During my training at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, I was given a well rounded education in all aspects of production within theatre and television, giving further varying applications for my skills set.Lighting
I am a highly experience stage electrician with more than six years experience working in venues across the UK and Ireland, both professional and academic. I can follow and design lighting plans, position and focus any theatrical lighting fixtures, rig and programme moving lights, use colour gels and gobo effects, install and trouble shoot DMX runs and plot and operate shows using various lighting consoles including the Strand 500 series and ETC Eos and Ion consoles. I am very conscientious with regard to electrical safety issues such as PAT testing, phase separation, correct wiring, calculating current and isolating power supplies when necessary. I have proven experience of safely installing and maintaining electrical equipment for external, outdoor and site-specific events.
Sound
I have 6 years experience as an audio technician for professional theatre, ranging from the use of analog and digital mixing desks to setting up and running venue sound systems. I know the most effective ways to set-up a PA system, how to follow sound schematics, signal route, use outboard equipment and create a coherent mix according to the needs of the performance and venue. I can use a range of professional audio equipment efficiently and effectively.
Stage and Flying
During my final year of study at theatre school one of my main focusing points of study was set construction and construction team management. I have a strong comprehension and understanding of stage construction techniques and am competent in reading and producing the desired result from technical drawings and have professional experience acting as stage crew in a multitude of venues across Ireland and the UK. I have a strong knowledge of counterweight flying systems as well as an experienced rigger and am competent in safe working practices and operation in accordance to the Health and Safety Act and LOLER Act.
Safeguarding Health and Safety
Understandably health and safety has always played an important part in my experience both on and off the stage. I appreciate how dangerous a theatre can be if not treated with respect correctly and I have always taken steps to ensure the safety of myself and other users of theatre venues under my supervision. I have proven abilities of working at a height, having used tallescopes, zargees ladders, scaffolding towers and scissor lift platforms. I have also had extensive harness training and other fall arrest systems for the use in catwalks.
