About me
After moving to California from Taiwan when I was two, I found cinema as a way into understanding and assimilating into American culture, and ever since then I have had an avid passion for seeing life through a film lens. For my undergraduate degree, I attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts for Cinema Studies with a minor in East Asian studies in New York. In college I gained valuable film experience working for the production company ThinkFilm and the producer Barbara DeFina (Goodfellas). Afterwards I fed my international interests by spending a year and a half in Taiwan relearning my native language of Chinese at National Taiwan University.
After Taiwan I was able to continue my passion for moving around the world, living in Paris and Hong Kong, while working for the photo desk at the International Herald Tribune. After gaining valuable experience in photo journalism, I began pursing my graduate degree at NYU’s Tisch Asia in Singapore. There I was able to work on countless productions around Asia, often as assistant director, in countries as varied as China, Japan, the Philippines, Taiwan, Indonesia, Macau, Prague and Hong Kong.
My last short film “Gigantic”, made while at NYU’s Tisch Asia, screened at the Slamdance Film Festival, and Chicago International Film Festival, where it was nomiated for the Golden Hugo as Best Short Film. I am currently completing the post production on her latest short film, "Miss World", about a young woman coming home to Taiwan to say goodbye to her father before he has to go off to prison.
