About me
As managing fiction editor Driftwood Press, I gained five years of experience writing press releases and descriptive summaries; copyedited and formatted stories, poetry, interviews, graphic narrative, and visual arts; oversaw and directed fellow editors; handled all emails with formality; kept an eye on the SEO statistics and information; gained proficiency in Microsoft Word, InDesign, and Wix; worked eight times a year to perfect cover designs with multiple cover designers; conducted interviews on a range of socio-political and writing-related topics; critiqued and line edited hundreds of stories (some of the writers went on to place those stories in major publications, such as Tin House); proofread the entirety of each issue; and collaborated with dozens of fiction contributors to significantly revise, cut, or polish their work to be as tightly written as possible. All of this work demanded exacting administrative precision and a perfectionist’s eye for detail while also being aware of the large picture.Additionally, I worked on an HBO show, Ballers, in South Florida for one year, where I served as the sole assistant in the Locations department. My responsibilities were broad-ranging. I acquired city permits for filming; made deals with homeowners for use of their property; patrolled on-set to assist with putting out location-related fires (both literal and figurative); scouted locations for shooting; created documents and maps for the crew; and dealt with hundreds of other off-set, production-related tasks.
In terms of education, I received a Master’s in Fine Arts in Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts and an Honors BA in Creative Writing and Film Studies from the University of South Florida.
