About me
Entertainment media localization is my niche, period. I'm not trying to be a jack-of-all-trades. And I don't just translate; I localize and transcreate. If my work accurately reflects the meaning of the source text while sounding 100% natural and entertaining in English, I know I've done my job right. After all, the word "entertainment" is right there in my job description. If my work isn't entertaining, I'm doing it wrong! My extensive experience with Japanese entertainment media, language, and culture, including six years of studying and working in Japan, combined with my ability to write English that is both natural-sounding and entertaining ensures that my clients' subtitles and games are top-quality. I take pride in capturing the essence of the Japanese source and delivering it to English-speaking audiences in a manner they can intuitively connect with.
I translated the subtitles for many of the classic Showa-era Godzilla movies that ran on Starz and the Criterion Channel. Many of them are now available on Max and other streaming services. My recent projects include "Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna" and "Violet Evergarden: The Movie," anime films that featured a limited-time cinema release, and I am currently working with major US-based streaming companies to help them bring the best of Japanese anime and live-action titles to American audiences.
My past game projects include many AAA game titles and fan-favorites, including "Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes," "Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney − Spirit of Justice," and "Final Fantasy V (mobile version)." I was the main translator for "Ōkami," one of the best-reviewed localized games ever. It was IGN's 2006 Game of the Year, and in its review, IGN said, "Capcom has somehow managed to create one of the best translations we've seen in a long, long time."
My extensive experience with Japanese language, culture, and entertainment media, including six years of studying and working in Japan, combined with my ability to write English that is both natural-sounding and entertaining ensures that my clients' subtitles and games are top quality. I take pride in capturing the essence of the Japanese source and delivering it to Western audiences in a manner they can intuitively connect with.
