Kerry Murdock set up Friction Theatre in 2007 to produce new writing in and around the Midlands. Her own plays include: Generations Games, After Eighties, One More Day, Reel Through Time and My Voice(s).

Kerry directing credits include: an extract from The Violent Romantic Hero in Women's Fiction at the Hampstead Theatre. My Voice(s) and Playing Life at the Edinburgh Fringe, Zak in the Box at The Crescent Theatre.

Alexandra Taylor: from writing and directing the school play to her current work as an English teacher, Alex has always been involved in thearts and education. Her ecclectic work history includes making television programmes for the Open University, setting quiz questions for an ITV children's show, researching for the DfES, taking part in contemporary arts performances, scriptwriting for TV and radio and designing a bag logo for a local shop.

She has also undertaken a number of voluntary projects including mentoring a Sudanese refugee, turning local school children into jungle animals for a musical performance, inventing a story-telling board game and campaigning to save Birmingham library

Helen Kelly has a BA in English and American Studies, an MA (disctinction) in playwriting and a PhD in dramatic structure.

More recently Helen has written a nine-part children's drama, “What's in the Box” for The Stephen Joseph Theatre Company. Helen has been the Associate Artist at Chalkfoot TC

Kept Woman came first in the BBC Radio4, ‘First Bit' competition and I Hate My Sister won second place in National Student Playwriting Competition. Helen wrote and produced her first short-film, Compulsive Gambling Housewife last year. This year she is putting the finishing touches to a play and a novel.

Robert Warrington is a writer based in the West Midlands. His plays have been performed at the Birmingham Rep and by Friction Theatre. His poetry can be found on various UK and US webzines, including the Beat, Beat the Dust, Contrary Magazine and Zygote in My Coffee. Some of his micro-fiction has been published by Leaf Books.
