Illyria celebrates its 26th season in 2017. It is one of the longest established, and the most widely touring and highly acclaimed of the open-air theatre companies. Illyria is proud to have adopted the Equity Outdoor Touring Theatre Guidelines.

Created in 1991, Illyria has delighted audiences across Britain and in the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, the USA and Canada for 25 years. Under the artistic directorship of Oliver Gray the company has also won international "Best Performance" awards and attracted numerous "5-star" and "Critics' Choice" reviews for its lively, innovative approach to Shakespeare's plays and Gilbert and Sullivan operettas, its high quality shows for families, and its refreshingly un-pompous adaptations of the classics.

Due to demand created by their international reputation for excellence Illyria performs more plays to more people across a wider area than any other open-air touring theatre company.

Illyria's mission is to create a varied programme of outstandingly enjoyable theatre and to enable everyone to see it.
