About me
I work as a cinematographer and occasional director. I prefer working on independent films as I am obsessed with creating the best possible image while working under difficult budget and time constraints.I became entranced with photography when I received my first 35mm camera at 12 and I’ve been constantly challenging myself ever since.
I am resourceful, self motivated, and a fanatic problem solver. You’ve got a crazy idea for a shot but no idea how to do it? Lets figure it out.
And as much I love creating interesting images, I believe story and characters come first. I have experience writing and directing my own work which has given me a greater understanding of a project as a whole, rather than just by viewing it from behind the camera. I work hard to make sure my lighting and camera work capture an appropriate mood rather than just look spectacular (although doing both is always the goal).
I also specialize in motion control timelapse photography. I own a 5 axis jib/dolly system that can make precise and repeatable moves.
In my spare time I like to drive out into the desert with a truck full of telescopes and work on my astrophotography (my astro blog), a hobby I’ve had for years that feels like the perfect blend of art and technically detailed work. And when the sun is up I find myself working on landscape photography. I enjoy the challenge of having little control over the light or any other environmental conditions and have found that skill translates well into cinematography.
