About me
I can adapt into a routine of the job role, getting on with the work at hand and I am able to meet to the deadlines required – whether it’s working as an Editor, Sound Operator, Researcher, or as an Acting Extra from what the Choreographer, Assistant Director or Director has asked of me to do in terms of performance. Currently working voluntary as a Film/Video Editor and Researcher for Newtek Digital & Verdigris.tv, plus I've done previous work as an Extra. I'm happy to accept no pay and paid roles as a walk-on Extra or working behind the camera. My motivation is to basically tell my life story in various different written genres of film such as: Fantasy, Science Fiction and Drama. So when given that opportunity to fulfil my ambition I hope to use the talents and influences that God has given me to entertain, inspire and generally make an everlasting impact on audiences for generations to come the same way as I have been inspired.

Highlights
-
Currently on a voluntary role working as a Film/Video Editor using Final Cut Pro for two companies known as Newtek Digital and Verdigris.tv, editing trailers and underground talent shows to name a few as well as researching into promo and music videos. I currently do two days a week from 12pm to 6pm Tuesdays, Thursday and some Fridays. Assisted for a Day's shoot on three to four scenes for a Feature Film being shot by Newtek working as a Sound Operator using the Boom Microphone (not own equipment I should add, but equipment that was provided to me) as well as for a Short Film by Newtek.
However I do have my own Sony Handycam, which is a DCR-DVD110E complete with my own Tripod. So if anyone needs a Cameraman, I'm happy to help in that department - plus I have Camera Operating experiences as well as Sound Operating.
Recently been working as a Supporting Artist for a low-budget feature films and short films. I assisted on a Half-Day shoot during a Conference for Community Champions where I was part of a team of two people (which were the Director and Cinematographer) which was a role recommended to me by one of my Supervisors at Bound Free.
I did a Day's Trial as a Runner for one of the UK's leading sports TV production companies called: Input Media, my role involved assisting the other Runners in fetching the food, collecting cups and assisting with delivering the food and drinks to some of the crew members.
In 2012 I completed a week's unpaid work experience working for an advertising company called: Localstars, my role was a Location Hunter in which I had to research and then phone companies in the cleaning industry to ask for permission for Localstars' filmmakers to film with them and then edit in return to those companies a 15-30 second advert. The role did also require me to work as a Shoot Assistant, but unfortunately I never got the chance too as Localstars didn't have much filmming work on the go at the present time.
I previously worked on a Short Film at the London Academy of Media, Film and TV, during my two month Film School course. The film was an adaptation of Samuel Beckett's play: Waiting For Godot, the adaptation was directed by Andi Reiss of Yellow Entertainment. For the film, I worked as one of two - three runners, marking down all the takes and was explained whether a particular take was good or not with an explanation as to what was wrong and good about the particular take for the first scene. Then I worked as Assistant Director for the second scene of the film.
Between 2006 and 2009 I went to West Thames College where I studied BTEC First Diploma in Media for 1 year and then went on to study BTEC National Diploma in Media for 2 years. During both years I worked on various productions such as: Music Video, a Soundtrack Project, Two Person Interview, Documentaries, Corporate Promotional Video, and a Film Trailer (which was my Final Major Project). My roles varied from: Sound Boom Operator, Editor, Camera Operator, Director and Actor.
When I was 11 years old and on holiday in Orlando Florida in 1999, I was randomly picked out from the audience to make some sword sound effects for the live show: Hercules and Xena: Wizards of the Screen. It was alot of fun to do, and gave me some early experience at Film/TV Production making. The host of the show at the time said after I had finished that I was a natural.
Most of my College and London Academy projects of mine can be viewed on my YouTube channel: McJayFilms. I also like to write stories and scripts on what I know, and it was advice that author Dougie Brimson gave me when he gave a talk at my College in 2009. Though I've only had four months of script writing lessons during the 2nd year of my National Diploma Course, I have developed a real passion for writing and thoroughly enjoy it.
