About me
Leah is a Los Angeles-based Director of Photography, who received her Masters of Fine Arts in Cinematography from The American Film Institute Conservatory. Since graduating, Leah has lent her expertise in lighting, composition and camera work to ten features, as well as numerous shorts, series, and commercials. Leah won a Cinematography Fellowship from Project Involve/Film Independent. She was awarded an ASC mentorship with renowned cinematographer Michael Goi, ASC though this program. Leah is an alumnus of the ASC’s Master Class Workshop.Her romantic comedy You & Me won the Audience Award at Cinequest Film Festival, and Best Feature Film at Tampa Bay Comic Con Festival. In 2015, To Climb a Gold Mountain won Best Feature Documentary at World Humanitarian Awards and an Emmy for Excellence in Independent Programming.
In 2017, I Am Still Here was nominated twice for Best Cinematography in a Feature Film. As the recipient of Film Independent’s Project Involve Fellowship in 2012-13, she the director of photography on two shorts 7 Day Gig and Baby Steps. The shorts Ode to Pablo and Gold Star both received Latino Public Broadcasting Public Media Grants. Bad Wolf won a PGA Award and a Debra Hill Fellowship. Shadows & Light won two festival awards in addition to a Kodak Grant, and both Shadows & Light and Snapshot played Cannes Film Festival’s Short Film Corner. Leah’s 2013 commercial “Ordinary Day” was a Gold Winner of the Aurora Award in 2012.
Her formal education in cinematography, combined with her military upbringing and extensive travels, gives Leah her breadth of knowledge, technical prowess, and the ability to think on her feet. Her interests in still photography and painting inform her work and contribute to her unique perspective as a filmmaker. Leah brings the sum of this rich background to each new project she approaches.
