Viv Li is an independent filmmaker and writer. Raised up in China, educated in the Europe, and nurtured in South America, she is now exploring stories and intercultural experiences in Southeast Asia. She lays her work on the subtle details of emotional progress in individuals and strives to tell stories through elements in the most candid way.
Her previous work includes Manchester Knot (2012), the first film focused on the struggles of overseas Chinese students in the UK. The film attracts attentions from both students and the government and received heated discussion. Her latest feature length documentary, the Landscape Within (2015), is about the healing journey of a body painting artist in the Philippines. The film was premiered in Singapore International Film Festival.
On the side of her filmmaking passion, she is currently working on a novel based on true events happened in a prominent family in Southeast Asia.
