About me
I’m a gregarious live wire who loves this craft, and is in the pursuit of meaningful works. I’m a delightful ginger from Hawaii with a pleasant smile and a knack for getting along with everyone. Even while sticking to my guns in terms of schedule flow and productivity, my years of work in various parts of production have kept me fluid and open to all types of work, creativity, and operations. It’s always a team effort.I have over 7 years of production work, mainly in New York, but I have traveled around as well with work. I’m currently in the assistant directing department, but I can range from PA to art prop to office to event managing to swing to AD. Mainly in the commercial/tv promo world, but I delve into many different aspects of the entertainment world as a freelancer. Multitasking and delegating are my strongest suited qualities.
I know my way around set, what it and crew need before being told, and how to operate efficiently while still catering towards the creativity and ideals of the project. I adhere to the “confidence not ego” mentality, and can work closely with producers, the office, crew and client without missing a beat and staying on task. I adjust naturally to the different styles of directors, productions and clients, and throughout the years I’ve normally been the one to work very closely with all of them.
I mesh well with all my talent that come through the works, and the vanity teams that work with them. I can create schedules and call sheets just as easily as setting up a 4’ by floppy courtesy, pack a truck or finish a production report. As multi-versatile and willing to do everything for the production as I am, I also work very well with others and hold closely to a teamwork mindset on and off set.
In the past two years I've been much more involved in the AD team, being a 2nd and 1st AD for many high end productions, as well as recently being a 2nd on the feature film "Blind" with Alec Baldwin and Demi Moore, and the 2nd on a new tv series pilot named “Natalie Frye: Private Eye.” Though I am adding up my days in my production book to properly enter the DGA, it is not my only ambition in the production world. I have many screenplays and series in creation, and enjoy co-directing on smaller projects.
My latest commercial productions in the past month have been for:
Adore Me clothing
Toyota with Seth Meyers
Rodan & Fields
FX channel season promos
AztraZenica pharmaceutical
Lucky Charms
Johnson & Johnson
Aflac
Aleve
I can send references from commercial producers, ADs or directors if needed. I can assure you that my work shows how very capable I am in terms of crew managing, paperwork (both sag and non sag plus Coogan account etc), and general set delegation. I'm more than capable of wearing many hats, taking on heavy responsibility, and delegation within different departments, as well as across companies from production to client.
Under pressure or on hour 14 of the day, I maintain a great working attitude, a fun working mentality, and persistent initiative that subdues any overwhelming circumstances to face us; with open problem solving, brainstorming and strategic open communication between departments and creatives. Happy to be with and always displaying my love for the craft, I work very closely with all those involved, and my excitement to grow in this industry is ever present in my enthusiastic, relatable and self-driven ways in my work.
Examples of the diversity of work I’ve collaborated on:
All Female Hip Hop Show put on in cahoots with a Feminist Anarchist book store
A commercial involving comics dressed stereotypical thugs and handling a live mini unicorn
A Kickstarter for Baby Zombie Halloween costumes called Zombabiez, acting as a swing grip, designing the lighting, and dressed as a zombie to boot
Live recording Promo for Jet Blue giving real life OCPs free trips to Dominican families to see home
Working with the Cookie Monster mobile all over NY with his Sesame Street crew, maintaining live crowds and multiple company moves
Over 300 live people in an all nighter Absolut Party on the Brooklyn Piers, juggling the give and take of both a commercial and live event
A Pirate boat musical collaboration for a full moon festival, out of the box thinking for equipment storage and power
Bikini Fashion shoot in a snowy February on a Coney Island beach, with sand castles and real snowmen. Talent wrangling and appeasing
Prop department:
baby sized chef hats, water bottle sprayers that would be acceptable to squirt at young children's faces, 14 different kinds of ipad stands, specific brands of diet pineapple Kombucha
Making an empty laundry room sparkle more than the Fourth of July
Stoping all pedestrian traffic from entering Times Square singlehandedly. Tasks like that
Telling Alec Baldwin that he MUST wear the grey shirt NOT the black one
I've spent a lot of time traveling around the US after Hawaii. I'm learning about life in New York. And falling in love with it. Only in the honeymoon phase of coming to know this city, but taking it all in.
