Glowing River

2011, 100 minutes

A couple's fate is in jeopardy as they arrive in a strange and perplexing town where time and reality cease to exist.

Glowing River is a desolate town, tucked away in miles of farmland. Most of the town's visitors are lost passersby, often times on their way to another destination. Every once in a while, people stay at the Glowing River Bed and Breakfast. It's not exactly the "scenic paradise" the brochure suggests. A few miles down the dirt road from the Bed and Breakfast, there's a single farmhouse with a large silo. The house is rundown and appears to be empty, like it has been abandoned for years. Eric and his fiancée Selena travel to Glowing River in hopes of escaping their tormented reality. Selena has been cheating on Eric, and in one last desperate act, she hopes to mend their relationship by spending a relaxing getaway weekend together. In one of the first scenes of the film, Selena drifts into a dreamy state of mind. In her delirium, she sees a faceless man in front of the empty, abandoned farmhouse with the large silo. Odd and horrific scenes unfold as the couple is literally thrown into different worlds. Eric wanders down the road, to the farmhouse, where he meets the manipulative Madame. She will try everything in her power to keep Eric in Glowing River. Selena remains back at the Bed and Breakfast, where she runs into the man she was cheating on Eric with, Dave. The town is a wormhole to the theory of the multiverse. In other words, a central point in the infinite possible universes that together comprise every reality in existence. The various universes within the multiverse are sometimes referred to as "parallel universes." Madame somehow has the ability to travel freely through these universes, manipulating Eric and Selena along the way. Selena had wished for an escape from reality, she just didn't think it would come in the most literal way.
