A wisecracking P.I. from 1946 is on the trail of a mysterious artifact when he is frozen in time and transplanted to the year 2016.
It's the year 1946 and Max Martin runs one of the best private investigation firms around with his older brother, Professor Martin Martin. Known for cracking the biggest cases, Max's life is irrevocably changed when he is tasked by a wealthy heiress named Julie West to retrieve a priceless artifact stolen from her father's museum. While on the trail of the totem, Max is locked away by a conspiring mob inside a deli's meat freezer in a surprise turn of events. Eventually he escapes and he suspects he's been inside for just a couple days. However, our hero discovers he's been frozen for much longer than that, transplanted into the year 2016. In coping with the fact that all of his friends and family are either gone or in nursing homes, Max attempts to revive his investigation firm and track down the totem with the help of his great-grandnephew Marty, who looks eerily similar to Max's older brother. However, when coping with a massive life change, going back to the thing you're good at isn't necessarily the best thing for you.
