A boy and his grandmother deal with a recent loss in conflicting ways while spending an afternoon together.

Paul and Margaret Barber are complete opposites. One is a boy of nine, the other an old woman of seventy-nine. One can't avoid causing messes if he tried, the other tries her hardest to keep everything in its proper place. And one barely understands that his grandfather isn't coming back, while the other hardly believes that her husband isn't coming back. Uncomfortable and unsure around each other, the two have to spend an afternoon together while dealing with their grief in conflicting ways. Holed up in a house haunted by memories, they will have to learn to understand each other if they are to move on.
