An unexpected relationship develops between Holocaust survivor, Ginger Lane and Arthur Schmidt, the grandson of the farmers, Herr & Frau Schmidt, who hid Ginger and her six siblings for two years during the height of the Shoah, when they meet in the town of Worin, Germany in the summer of 2017. Both Ginger and Arthur come face to face with their families’ legacies and how they have unwittingly embraced their personal histories. Worin travels back and forth in time revealing the details behind the German farmers who risked their lives to protect Jewish children and the current immigrant, religious and political conversations we are having today. Ginger, a dancer and choreographer and Arthur, a painter, photographer and sculptor, have both spent their lives creating art through installations and performance. Through archival stills and footage, present day family interviews and witnessing Arthur Schmidt receive, on behalf of his grandparents, the highest honor bestowed upon a Non-Jew at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, Israel, Worin will weave together the intersection of three generations of these two families, all due to the heroism of two fruit farmers in 1943, who chose humanity over apathy.
