so Cover letters!
Hey! so what exactly are they looking for in a coverletter, what do they want from us?
They want your work experiences and work history!
I look at it as personal information that will help the producers/directors see what I can bring to the role. It changes for every role I apply for. The reel is the most important thing, as far as I'm cocerned, but the cover gives you a chance to introduce yourself.
I've just been putting my location. "Hi, I'm Sunshine, and I can work local to Atlanta. I look forward to hearing from you! Sunshine"
I think it's just to sort out lazy applicant's. which is silly because I would think the casting director would want efficiency from the actor who points out the obvious, has the reel, and executes without wasting time. Anyway, try just putting your union status, location, contact info and basic stats. Maybe add any special skills or special info that may be relative to the role. This is all in our profiles but imagine you're opening 300 emails for a role.
Just a personal note from myself and work history.
