I have an audition coming up and need help finding a pop song. I am a bass/baritone singer. Can anyone help or have any suggestions? Anything would be great.

I can't suggest anything particularly modern but Neil Diamond songs are usually written in a baritone key whereas The Beatles were usually slightly higher.

You said "pop" songs rather than "rock". Without knowing your range and the role that you are applying for it is difficult to be more specific. Do you want "boppy" or a slower ballad? I might be able to suggest something if you give us more info.

Yes its got to be a rock/pop song thats from the last 5 year. Its just for an agency audition. I would like an uptempo song. my range is bottom E to top F.

Most pop artists sing so high these days!

Have you thought of choosing a song you like and trying to get it in a lower key than the original?

I'm not an expert and there are probably various ways to do this, but there is a good website called karoake version that does backing tracks for a few quid and you can get them higher or lower than the original key - might widen your options a bit.

Good luck

Yeah I thought of doing that. Its so annoying because all the pop songs like you say are all high nowadays. But thank you for your help Tony. Will do that.

I am also a bass baritone. Yes, rock tenors do seem to have more material to choose from! I blame Elvis... One thing that may work for you is to take songs performed by female singers and sing them an octave below - providing the lyrics won't sound too strange for you to sing. The "natural" range a lot of female pop singers have may be closer to your range - just an octave below.
