cos i live 6 months there uk the rest im shocjed to hear ppl spending money on the off chance of getting a job there are sooo many breakdowns put in show papers and u can get them easy selfridges harrods all you do is apply on line hey presto you get the script you do your role pref with a light blue curtain behind you and when you start you say slate instead of camera so you introduce ur self do your thing not straight into camera slightly off then pop in jiffy bag send off if they want you for recall they pay expences its normally a quick turn around but unlike here every casting director has a data bank so you could get some more work you dont need to spend money they see it as desperate but if they invite you its different i see a lot of talent that would get work there blucky micky

Hi Mickey,

I'm not saying that it is wrong for you to help people.
I'm assuming that you have a US passport so you don't need a visa; this means that you do not face the same problems UK nationals will face.

I'm talking about people who are not legal to work in the US. I don't think they stand a chance by auditioning remotely for regular castings on the breakdown because it doesn't give enough time to get the paperwork sorted before shooting should they be cast (in most cases).
I don't think it's helping to make them think it's an easy way to get a career in the US.

I think that the best way to do it is to meet film makers who have a feature film in development, so months before they issue a casting breakdown and are ready to shoot.
Get them to like you enough to sign a promise of work (deal memo); then get a US agent to sponsor you, find a good lawyer and apply for the visa yourself. It's expensive but it's the way most people do it. It's the most realistic way to get papers, and even this isn't easy.
Even if you have all of this, your application can be denied. You also have to prove that you are a very successful actor.
Many of my friend were denied this year, had to pack their bags and go back to their country.
It's misleading to say it's easy.
It's doable though, many people succeed too, so I'm not saying people shouldn't try.
I'm just trying to give you a realistic vision of how things are so you can be prepared.

You obviously misunderstand what I'm saying.

I also believe in helping people, and I do, all the time;
I'm just offering the perspective of someone who has gone through the legality of getting a US working visa; and it did not happen in one day for me, nor for any of my friends.
I'm just telling people what I know works and what problems they may find along the way so they have the tools to overcome them.

I believe knowledge is power.

Don't let me stop you from doing anything you want. It really isn't the purpose of my posts.

Mickey it would seem as though you have dual nationality perhaps?
I have a Green Card but find time limitations for US auditions hard to cope with nowadays.

Hi Mickey
You sound really sweet but it is a bit hard to understand you. That's fantastic that you have Dual Nationality, I'm going to marry my American boyfriend soon ( who I totally love, just invade anyone wondered) so hopefully it will make it easier to get acting work, plus I've got Hollywood agent interested in me from my audition. Please ask you're director friend at Pinewood if he'd be interested in me & please show him my profile. I'm going to LA very soon.
I hope everyone gets lucky & gets to live there dream! Juel xxxx
