    The Executive and Artistic Director, of our Performing Arts is a senior level administrative position reporting to the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost. The Executive and Artistic Director oversees a staff of 36 and an annual operating budget of over $7 million and is responsible for defining our Performing Arts artistic and strategic direction. The Executive and Artistic Director possesses exceptional artistic vision and is an inclusive, engaging arts leader, able to cultivate close relationships with an international arts community as well as students, colleagues, donors, and all others who are part of the educational community of UNC-Chapel Hill.The Executive and Artistic Director plays a central role in the leadership of Arts Everywhere, which embodies the overarching arts goals within UNC-Chapel Hill’s strategic plan. The Executive and Artistic Director provides leadership for a strong organizational framework for the arts on campus to include support for both academic and non-academic units; new opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and community members to engage with and experience the arts; the production of a diverse array of innovative new works of art; and integration of the arts into campus civic dialogue.The Executive and Artistic Director motivates staff, the board, donors, and stakeholders throughout the University and the global artistic community. The Executive and Artistic Director strives to stage performances that represent diverse voices and will seek to attract an audience that represents the growing diversity of the Triangle region.The Executive and Artistic Director strengthens Carolina Performing Arts’ existing professional relationships and builds new partnerships with arts and higher education institutions across the globe, furthering Carolina Performing Arts’ reach, attracting top talent, and building new audiences in Chapel Hill and beyond. The Executive and Artistic Director collaborates with Carolina Performing Arts’ International Advisory Board and senior leadership team to develop strategic goals and establish broad operating objectives and policies. The Executive and Artistic Director works closely with development staff and board members to identify and cultivate prospective donors, seek grant funding, grow corporate gifts, advocate internally for University support, and build a reserve. The Executive and Artistic Director creates an equitable and inclusive organizational culture for Carolina Performing Arts to attract and retain diverse staff at every level.Educational Requirements Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required with three years or greater of related professional experience; for candidates demonstrating comparable professional backgrounds, will accept a relevant undergraduate degree and five years or greater of relevant experience in substitution.
