Our News Station in Corpus Christi, TX with a legacy brand, is looking for a creative, innovative and experienced News Director to lead day-to-day editorial coverage while overseeing content creation and distribution across multiple platforms.Our ideal candidate can identify engaging content, teach others how to do so, and develop a road map to meet the goals of growing our station through the “Known and Trusted” brand.We are looking for proven editorial leader with strong news judgment, a deep understanding of television and digital storytelling with a passion for innovation.KIII and TEGNA are re-imagining local news in the digital age— thinking big and being bold to deliver content to our audience on multiple platforms.Job ResponsibilitiesStrategically lead, inspire and manage News Department with a competitive and innovative spirit in everything we doLead the newsroom in fulfillment and execution of the station's “Known and Trusted” brandLead a newsroom culture dedicated to owning enterprise reporting and breaking news across all content platformsInspire and coach superior, unique and engaging storytellingOversee and collaborate with Digital Content Director on editorial strategy for daily content creation and distribution across all platformsUse consumer analytics to determine contentWork closely with the news team to produce high-quality, relevant, local content that sets the station apart from competitorsRecruit and hire top notch journalists for all platformsFoster, encourage and reward out-of-the-box thinking that leads to differentiation and successUse creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewer pictures, webcam interviews, etc.) to enhance storiesWork closely with other Department Heads on ideating and executing strategic initiatives.Collaborate with content leaders across TEGNA to maximize the sharing of our content and to leverage innovation and best practices among stationsTeach, coach, and mentor the entire newsroom in best practices for writing and producing contentPerform other duties, as assigned, to drive and fulfill the mission while abiding by the values of this organization
